Attending to vehicle maintenance is something that goes hand-in-hand with any vehicle purchase. But is it really necessary to complete maintenance with your vehicle that's used infrequently? It might appear like your vehicle is in perfect health and condition if it's seen additional quality time with your driveway and garage but looks can be deceiving. If your vehicle has sat for a handful of weeks to a month or more, it's imperative that you soon take steps to ensure it's still in proper condition.
Our service team has generously taken the time to provide some brief insight into why vehicle maintenance during periods of infrequent use is still important. Schedule a service appointment at Dave White Acura in Sylvania near Toldeo, OH after learning more about car care below.
Why Service a Vehicle Even If You're Driving Less?
- Your Battery Can Lose Charge: A battery's charge will eventually drain if it isn't driven at least once every few weeks. The last thing you need or want is a dead battery when you need to get somewhere in a hurry.
- Your Tires Can Develop Flat Spots: Tires naturally lose pressure over time, but did you know that your car's tires can also slowly lose air pressure even when at a standstill over time? Additionally, your tires can develop flat spots, bulging, and cracks from sitting in the same position over time.
- Your Vehicle Still Needs Regular Oil Changes: Think back to the last time your vehicle had an oil change. If it's due soon or is overdue, you might want to bring it in for an oil change sooner rather than later. Changing temperatures and accumulation of grit can necessitate oil changes just like regular driving can.
Avoid costly repairs and expensive maintenance costs down the line. Join us at our service department to have your vehicle brought back to like-new condition and prepare it for blustery cold and harsh winter conditions ahead.
